Bald River Trail and Bald River Falls parking lot will be closed for maintenance
These areas will be closed from September 21 to November 24 for repairs.
TELLICO PLAINS, Tennessee – The Cherokee National Forest has announced it will close the Bald River Trail from September 21 to November 24.
The trail will be closed from the parking lot to the Cow Camp trail intersection, according to the forest service.
The Bald River Falls parking lot will be frequently closed for safety reasons during this time, and there will be no suitable parking lot for visitors to Bald River Falls, according to a statement. There is an alternate ride for drivers at Baby Falls.
“Work on the trail is critical to ensuring public safety,” said Brandon Burke, district recreation program director. “The maintenance will ensure that we continue to provide access to outdoor experiences in the region. “
The Forest Service said it would repair three trail switchbacks, install stone steps to prevent trail erosion to repair about 120 feet of tread, and repair stone retaining walls to restore tread. on steep slopes.
