NV Energy is monitoring fire weather conditions in the Lake Tahoe area, and Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) monitoring is in effect for the PSOM areas of Kingsbury and Carson-Minden (Genoa area) on Monday September 27 from 3 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and ending Tuesday September 28 around 4:00 p.m.
This outage will affect around 600 customers.
The outage time includes the duration of the weather event and an estimate of how long it will take for crews to inspect lines for damage, vegetation or debris in order to begin to restore power safely. Please note that the restoration time may change depending on weather conditions or if crews need to make repairs to the equipment. Affected customers have been notified by phone, SMS and email. NV Energy will continue to monitor fire weather conditions and provide regular updates on the status of the outage. Customers are encouraged to have a contingency plan in place. This PSOM event will be adjusted or canceled if weather conditions change.
PSOM is a key defense measure to help protect the community and the environment from forest fires. During a PSOM event, the power is cut for safety reasons to prevent power lines or debris blown into power lines and other equipment from causing a forest fire when certain environmental conditions are met.
Additional information, including outage preparedness tips, PSOM criteria, and impact area maps, is available online at nvenergy.com/psom.
