Riverside firefighters and police will showcase their gear on Saturday, offer advice on what to do in an emergency and host a host of demonstrations as part of National Preparedness Month.
The annual Public Safety Preparedness Expo is scheduled from 11 am to 3 pm in the JCPenney parking lot adjacent to the Tyler Mall Galleria.
This year’s event is themed “Preparing to Protect” and will focus on how to be self-reliant in times of disaster.
“The California wildfires and extreme weather conditions across the country show the importance of preparing now for a disaster that could impact your life,” said Riverside Fire Chief Michael Moore.
According to the exhibition organizers, the event will include CPR training, displays of ladder trucks and police patrol vehicles, information on how to form neighborhood watch groups, as well as details on how to reach community emergency response teams.
Additional resources and information regarding National Preparedness Month are available at www.ready.gov.
